Morning became Electra

Too much? Yeah. Anyway, we went and fished Electra. It's a private lake up by Purg that gets water from Cascade, Little Cascade and Elbert Creeks. Because there is an entrance fee of $15 and more for a boat and they limit the amount of anglers there per day, you're greeted with a pretty sweet stretch of uncrowded water. We nabbed a few lunkers and had a blast. I never knew browns could taste so good!

  1. I'm surprised I just learned this tip but it has changed my trout eating experience immensely. Try baking/grilling the trout with the fillets and skin still on (just gutted). Then when it is done, just use a fork, starting at the caudal fin, and work the fillets off. Your left with two boneless hunks of meat and a really neat full skeleton, not to mention a lot more time and a lot less coughing on fish bones.

You don't need a license to fish Electra right? What is the extra fee for a boat? Might be a good way to introduce some newbies to the sport.

  2. Hi Alex,

Thanks for the tips. That sounds like the way we do up brookies! No license required and I'm not exactly what the boat fee is. The gatekeeper last time told me that our boat qualifie for the canoe fee because it was so small and ratty :)
