Groundhog Reservoir

We returned to Groundhog Reservoir today with our friends Travis & Stephanie Gilbert of Fly Fish The San Juans. Travis was determined to catch them on his fly rod, a heavy weight with sinking line and sculpin, minnow and crayfish imitations. The rest of us used black jigs and started landing fish right away along the ice. There was plenty of ice and it was very cold. Probably one of the last times to fish this area where we like to fish. Travis did end up catching some lunkers. Stephanie caught a cutthroat and Lisa caught the biggest and most. What else is new?
